A fitting title for a duo of identical twins!

Twins seem to generate universal curiosity.   Valerie and Julie Rutter, the multi-talented musicians who are GEMINI, are no exception - transfixing audiences with their uncanny ability to synchronize so naturally.
Experiencing GEMINI on stage is a joy to the senses.  Their performances combine fascinating repertoire with interchanging duo configurations that captivate audiences from the opening curtain to final bow.  Not only do the talented twins create delightfully entrancing sounds in their popular performances, but they also provide their listeners with informative descriptions of the music and instruments, interwoven with amusing and entertaining anecdotes.
"Our goal," says Val, "is to build a bridge to the wonderful world of classical music, inspiring audience members, from serious concert-goers to those who might normally shy away from this art form."
"We also have a strong commitment to the creation of new works," says Julie.  "With the assistance of the BC Arts Council, we have commissioned composers Ramona Luengen and Cameron Wilson to write pieces featuring all our instrument combinations."
Dances for Duo, GEMINI's first CD (released in 1998) was nominated for Best Classical Recording in the 1999 West Coast Music Awards.   Selections from this GEMINI gem can frequently be heard on CBC Radio, which also featured the duo in the showcase programme West Coast Performance.  Their most recently developed show for young audiences "Beethoven and the Boys" has received highest ranking at Artscan 2004 and they have been featured with the Victoria and Edmonton Symphonies with their special collaborative presentation of Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals.  During the 2005-2006 season the duo toured the Okanagan and California and proved that they can charm even the most seasoned classical concert audiences of long time established Community Concert presenters with their fast paced, humorous recitals performed in a visually appealing and colourful stage set, and receive spontaneous standing ovations from capacity audiences of up to 800.   GEMINI enthrall audiences with their musical artistry and unwavering commitment to excellence in entertainment.
